Joanna Xiao

Joanna is pursuing her Master of Urban Planning at McGill University. She completed her Honours Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences specializing in International Development and Globalization with a minor in Business Administration in 2015 from the University of Ottawa. Joanna previously worked for the City of Ottawa’s Transit Services, where she first became interested in urban planning. While working with UPGo, Joanna researched the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Montreal and global housing markets. Joanna holds a variety of interests including transit planning, social injustices in planning, housing affordability, planning for sustainability and climate change, and technological innovation and privacy impacts. Joanna is expected to finish her Masters studies in 2021.
